Facility Rental

The Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA) is a unique multi-use venue offering a diversity of programming including gallery exhibits, film screenings, concerts, multimedia performances, dance, drama, readings, classes, workshops, art talks, and other events throughout the year.  Take a Virtual Tour of the Center's Community room illustrating the multiple uses of this space for screenings and performances
Rental Information

The Center has available a 23 x 38 foot multi-purpose community room with approximently 888 square feet of usable space. It is equipped with a professional video projection system, 12-foot wide retractable screen, and includes DVD/VHS playback capability with a multi-speaker sound system. It is possible to comfortably seat 60 people in the venue. This can be expanded to include 10 additional seats if needed.

Rental of the facility is possible for events outside of the regular DIVA Center hours. Please contact the Center regarding rates for non-profit events.
Community Room Fees
• Room Fee: $50 the first hour and $35 each additional hour. Chargeable rental time includes that needed for set-up/tear-down, and clean up.
• Use of other Center rooms and facilities negotiated with Program Director.
• Maintenance Fee: $25.00 to cover garbage, recycling.
• Staff Fee: $25 for opening /closing on days the Center is closed
• Non-profits should call for rates.
 
AV Equipment Fees
•  Use of video projection/screen/ and audio system: $20.00 per hour. A DIVA trained projectionist must operate the equipment.
•  Use of overhead projector and screen: $10.00 per hour
•  Use of 35mm slide projector and screen: $10.00 per hour
•  Coffee maker (12-30 Cups): $10.00 per event (user provides coffee, cups, and condiments.
  
Payment
The lessee agrees to submit a 50% deposit 7 days before the event and must pay the balance before the actual use of the facility.
 
Special Notes
•  The lessee is responsible for its own set-up and take down of chairs, tables, etc. There are 48 padded chairs and 9 folding tables available. There are some additional plastic patio-style chairs for extra seating as needed.
•  Rental hours are from Center closing until 1:00 AM. Extended hours subject to DIVA approval.
•  Rental and use of the Center during regular DIVA hours is limited and subject to approval.
 
Use Of Facility
•  Lessee will keep all areas clean including the community room, hallways, bathrooms and kitchenette and other areas if used.
•  Lessee shall take good care of the premises and maintain all the personal properties, equipment, and furniture in good condition during the term of the rental agreement.
•  Phones and offices are not available to the general public and are kept locked, when applicable. The individual in charge of opening and closing the facility is the only personnel authorized to be in the office or to use the phones.
•  No artwork in the galleries or furniture in the offices may be moved without the permission of the Program Director.
•  No smoking allowed inside the DIVA Center.
 
Personnel
Lessee shall provide all personnel required to properly conduct the event, including security people, ticket takers, set up and clean up crews, etc. An event coordinator or contact person, provided by Lessee, agrees to the specifics related to use of facilities and regarding alcoholic beverages, observance of laws, insurance/immunity and safety issues as described below. Event coordinator/contact person shall meet with the DIVA Program Coordinator to review house rules, rental agreement and maintenance checklist. The event coordinator/contact person must be physically present in the building during the event and will be responsible for enforcing regulations during the event. Event coordinator/contact person must be present at the physical inspection of facilities after the event.
 
Alchoholic Beverages
Lessee must work with DIVA's Program Director related to the use of alcoholic beverages. Lessee must have license to sell alcohol and will be responsible for checking for the legal drinking age.
 
Observance Of Laws
Lessee agrees that every member connected with the renting organization shall abide by, conform to, and comply with, all the laws of the United States and the state of Oregon, and all ordinances of the City of Eugene, together with the rules and regulations of the Police and Fire Departments of the City of Eugene, and will not do, nor suffer to be done, anything on the said premises during the term of the rental agreement, in violation of any such rules, laws or ordinances.
 
Insurance/Immunity
Lessee shall be responsible for obtaining liability insurance for actions arising from its use of the premises. Lessee accepts all liability for welfare of premises, equipment, audience and workers during the rental period. Lessee shall be totally responsible for all debts and liabilities incurred as a result of this agreement. Lessee shall indemnify and hold harmless the DIVA Center from any and all loss or damage to persons or property which Lessor may suffer on account of any accident or occurrence caused by Lessee. In consideration of the mutual agreements et forth in this agreement, Lessee relieves, acquits and forever discharges DIVA of and from any and all actions, claims, demands and damages on account of, or arising from, any accident transpiring during and under the terms of this agreement.
 
Safety Issues
Lessee will permit no chairs or moveable seats to be or remain in the passageways or aisles, and will keep passageways and aisles clear at all times. Lessee will allow no obstructions of sidewalks, entries, passages, vestibules, halls and ways of access to public facilities of the premises. Lessee accepts responsibility for limiting capacity in the main gallery and classroom area to be no more than as prescribed by the Fire Marshall.
