The Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA) is a not-for-profit Center located in the heart of Eugene. Our mission is to be a catalyst for bringing artists and the community together in an on-going dialogue about the creative process through work in the traditional and time-based arts. Come visit DIVA and enjoy our six exhibit galleries, media arts programming, art talks, and educational opportunities.

Gallery hours are noon-5 PM, Tuesday-Saturday as well as special hours for events, classes and programs throughout the day. See the Calendar for daily listings of Center events.

DIVA's OpenLens Festival-January 9-10-11

Come join the excitement of celebrating the work of emerging independent filmmakers at DIVA's Fifth Annual OpenLens Festival January 9th, 10th, and 11th. The Festival is an umbrella event that features two juried film competitions, screenings, seminars, special events and receptions. Download a Festival Schedule.

The festival kicks off with a retrospective screening of award winning animation by Portland filmmaker Joanna Priestley. Priestley is this year's host and Filmmaker in Residence.

On Saturday, Youth Vision's Teen Video Challenge will screen entries followed by an awards ceremony. An encore screening of teen films will be held on Sunday.

Entries for the Southwest Oregon Short Film and Video Competition will be screened on Saturday evening with an encore presentation on Sunday that is followed by an award ceremony and wrap party. This competition is the signature event of the OpenLens Festival and provides an opportunity for emerging film and video makers to showcase their work in a competitive event.

Joanne Priestley will conduct a seminar on Saturday, January 10th, at which she will explore the important components of animation. Then, on Sunday, Eugene based game designer Simon Strange will discuss what goes into the creation of successful interactive games. Advanced registration is encouraged.
